An event taking place at Parrox in the 20th century

BOOK LAUNCH

From the Fells to the Sea - by Brian Marshall

Over Wyre author Brian Marshall’s new book ‘From the Fells to the Sea,’ a fascinating collection of essays on 3,000 years of local history, will be published on the 26th June. A special launch party and book signing will be held at Parrox Hall to mark the occasion.

“The book highlights some of the many facets of life in Amounderness, which is one of the six ancient ‘hundreds’ of Lancashire,” Brian explains. “It introduces characters and events from within living memory on the one hand but also draws on historical records from the middle ages and archaeological evidence from long ago, all of which go to make up the rich and varied heritage handed down to those who live in the area today.”

Amounderness stretches from the river Ribble to the Cocker and from the Bowland Fells to the southern shore of Morecambe Bay. In ‘From the Fells to the Sea,’ Brian Marshall examines topics as varied as Amounderness place-names, Lytham priory, a Pilling postman in the Great War and the traditional production of Lancashire cheese in the area.

He will be signing copies of his book at the launch party at Parrox Hall at 6pm on the 26th June. If you would like an invitation to the event, please call 01253 812 017.
